first_imgIt was another successful weekend for the University of Wisconsin volleyball team, as they clinched their seventh victory this season in the HotelRED tournament.The Badgers opened their doors to Lipscomb and Texas A&M Thursday, with three days of play allowing for each team to play each other at least once in the schedule. Williams tallied 11 blocks and 10 kills, earning her first career double-double.The Badgers managed to pull away from Lipscomb early in the first set, and that momentum allowed for an equally successful second set. It was in the third set that Lipscomb managed to fight back, keeping the game close in scoring between the two teams, but Wisconsin eventually managed to silence the Bison.Friday night was a night off for the Badger, as both visiting teams took on one another at the Fieldhouse. Even though the Badgers were a little rusty from their day off, they still managed to outplay the Aggies from the beginning.Fans were also in for a surprise when Lauryn Gillis came back on the court to play with her teammates. Gillis has been out for a majority of this young season, still recovering from an ankle injury she acquired from last yearWhile Gillis might have only played a fraction of the game, it was a great look into just how dominant this team could be when they are all playing. Gillis and her fellow Badgers earned yet another three-set sweep, their seventh of the season. Wisconsin has performed outstandingly well this non-conference season, with the Badgers never giving a single set to any of their opponents. With as much success as they’ve had during non-conference play, good things are sure to come to the Badgers once they begin Big Ten play.The Badgers will wrap up their final non-conference game of the regular season next weekend when they host the Badger Classic tournament at the UW Fieldhouse. Team Ghana to participate in Rio Olympics despite threats of Zika virus

first_imgGhana Athletics Association president Francis Dodoo believes Ghana’s contingent can still make it to the Olympic games in spite of the growing concerns that the Zika virus will dissuade many athletes from going to Rio.Over the past few weeks, many athletes and fans have voiced concerns for their safety if the virus isn’t under control by the time the Games start on Aug. 6.Some athletes have even discussed the possibility of boycotting the Olympics altogether.”People have asked me if Athletes will go and I think Yes.  Virtually every athlete in the world will go because the Olympic games is where you go and measure your currency against other athletes.”It comes once every four years and if you don’t go, you will never know if you are one of the best in the world so I think ultimately people will come.People have taken some domestic steps unfortunately I don’t think my athletes have that option so they will have to go Brazil.” “They [Team Ghana] have to cover themselves well and I think God loves us and will protect us”The Zika virus is a mosquito-borne infection which was first identified in Africa in 1947. The Victory of B&H Handball Team in Tallinn

first_imgThe handball team of B&H began the qualification for the World Cup 2015 with a victory. The team of B&H, led by coach Dragana Marković won the first match against Estonia with 29:26 (18:13) for the Group 5 qualification last night in Tallinn. Most effective players among the team of B&H were Delić and Prce with six goals, Savić with four goals and Malinović with three goals.B&H handball players are on the first place of the list, with Latvia that in the first match of the group yesterday defeated Portugal. The Portuguese team is the next opponent of the B&H team and the match will be played in Sarajevo on Sunday.
